Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Disappointed
As one might guess we are sitting here with a malfunctioning KM7000 two months after an Amazon purchase... outside Amazon's return policy but within Krups warranty. Krups providing lip service thus far instead of repair or replacement. Suffice to say we can only give a "save your money" rating at this point.

Malfunctions encountered:

1. Does not complete a brew cycle without stopping/restarting in mid brew... this within Amazon's 30 day return policy with Krups advisement not a problem as it eventually restarts.

2. The drip stop provision upon flask removal during a brew cycle does not completely shut off coffie flow... Repeated flushing/cleaning of basket spring loaded poppet valve does not correct.

3. Grinder does not complete a grind cycle without numerous manual restarts to achieve grind input setting... Repeated cleaning of grinder chute/cavity does not correct (no obstructions... suspect problem lies with electronics).

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Satisfied overall
I *really* wanted to like this coffee maker. I had been searching for an affordable, integrated grind and brew model for some time. The KM 7000 scores maximum points for design and ease of cleaning and use. I just can't stand the coffee it makes. It's far too strong. I've twiddled all the nobs (coarse grind, etc) to make milder coffee, and switched to mild roast beans, but I still seem to be getting espresso strength coffee regardless.

So I add 8 cups of water to the tank and set the machine to grind 4 cups worth of beans. This trick produces a cup of coffee that's robust and full-bodied to my liking. I note that operating the machine manually in this way produces this result. If I auto-program this setting the machine appears to ignore it and grind 8 cups worth of beans anyway instead of 4 and I get the motor-oil coffee.

One final note: this model comes with a "dribble" pot. That's the one that, if not held steady at a very particular angle when pouring, sends hot coffee down the front of the pot and onto the floor, counter, table, etc. The $29 Mr. Coffee model I got 3 years ago at Wal-Mart and just replaced with the KM7000 had that same dribble pot. Why Krups would ship this flawed pot design with the KM 7000 mystifies me.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Lives up to the Krups reputation for quality
I bought this for my birthday, after the Cuisinart grind and brew was stopping during the brewing process. I had a Krups that lasted 18 years, and then bought a Melitta (11 months) and then a Cuisinart (2 1/2 years).
I am so pleased with the coffee taste, I will never stray again. Thank you Krups!

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - broke within one week
I bought this item because of the high reviews on Amazon. The coffee grinder broke before I used it 7 times. Needless to say, I am not impressed with Krups. We had a Cuisinart and it broke after 18 months so I replaced it with this. Think I'll go back to Cuisinart grind and brew. The good news is that Amazon's service is good about returning it even though I threw away the box.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great grinds
Excellent grind and brew coffee maker. Love all the features of adjusting temperature, aroma, grind. Yes a little(very little) ground coffee gets on the lid when you open it, no big deal.Yes a little(very little) ground coffee stays in the chute after each use,no big deal. I drink alot of coffee, usually going thru two units a year(burning up, brealing down). So far this maker has performed exceptionally. I highly recommend this unit to anyone looking for a quality grind and brew type unit!
