Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Quieter but messy
After reading reviews on Amazon, I decided to significantly upgrade our coffee grinder to this one from a Cuisinart. Love the fact that this grinder doesn't set our teeth on edge from high-pitched whine like our other grinder, and it does a very good job grinding our beans. I'm surprised that I need to clean ground coffee off our counter every morning, though. No one else mentioned this problem that I remember. A small leak lets grinds out where the bin meets the grinder during grinding. That, combined with the static from the plastic means a wet paper towel clean-up every time we grind. Annoying from a grinder that costs this much.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - so so
the how many cups dial does not grind enough beans for my liking. flavor is weak unless i add to the actual cups being brewed. unit dosen't start all the time you have to play with the timer. i don't see a big improvement from the old blade grinder. it is convient that it holds alot of beans. i could take it or leave it. wouldn't buy another one

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - It's awesome.
My old "spinning blade" coffee grinder finally bit the dust after five years of daily usage. I did some research about burr grinders and this turned out to be the only reasonably priced one that had unanimously favorable reviews. The price was a bit more than I'd wanted to spend, but it's big, heavy and sturdy -- and Bunn still builds their products in the US, all of which made it more palatable. I have an old Bunn-O-Matic coffee maker and these two products make a great team.

When I first received it, the grinder made unacceptably large coffee grounds, even when set to the finest grind setting. I emailed Bunn and they wrote back the next day with a remedy. Most likely it had been knocked out of adjustment in shipping. After tweaking the adjustment screw everything has been great. The grind is very fine.

Probably the biggest appeal to me about this one was the bean hopper. You just buy a whole bag of beans and dump it in the grinder. You don't have to measure out the right amount of beans every morning, which is nice. With the old one I always spilled a few and it's a pain cleaning them up when you're not awake/caffeinated. With the Bunn you just set the dial to the amount you want and then dump the grounds into the coffee filter. The grounds container has a rubber lip at the top to prevent stray grounds from getting on your countertop. It works pretty well, with a lot less mess than a blade-type grinder.

I've found the best deal on whole-bean coffee to be at Whole Foods, surprisingly enough. You can get a pound and a half of "Pleasant Morning Buzz" for ten bucks...

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - You Just Can't Beat a Bunn!
I just received my Bunn Home Grinder from Amazon a couple of days ago. The package arrived very quickly after ordering, much quicker than expected! Kudos to Amazon shipping!

As for the grinder itself, I have no complaints. I read several reviews before buying this model, and considered other brands. I am glad I chose Bunn. This machine is built to last, and the workmanship shows. The grinder is easy to load, easy to unload to a coffee maker, and easy to clean. A cleaning brush is even included, with detailed instructions!

As other reviews have stated, the grinder is loud, but no more so than other grinders. It is, after all, a coffee GRINDER! It grinds the beans slower than other grinders, but the uniform grind is worth the wait. The consistency of the grind is also easy to adjust from inside the top of the hopper. Even with the hopper half full of beans, the adjustment can still be made with no problem.

The collection bin is designed extremely well. It fits snugly within the machine, sealed with a rubber gasket. No grinds escape before, during or after grinding, which means no mess on the kitchen counter. The static is minimal, so there are no problems in transferring the ground coffee from the bin to a brewing basket.

The knob on the front of the unit is a light plastic, and could be designed a little better. It would also be nice to have a simple on/off button in addition to the automatic timer. Still, the grinder works great.

I have had a couple of Bunn coffeemakers, and the service has been outstanding. I have no doubt that the service behind this grinder will be the same. Replacement grinder parts can be easily ordered, and an electronic version of the owner's manual is readily available on the Bunn website. Also, whenever Bunn customer service is called, a real, live person answers the phone, rather than just an automated voice prompt!

I've seen the reviews and am aware of the hype for other coffee grinders. From my experience though, you just can't beat a Bunn!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Grind not chop
The coffee tastes so much fuller after the beans are actually ground verses chopped as previously done by our old "grinder".
