Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Too fine
My usual method for coffee is a french press. The coarse setting isn't course enough to use in a french press. The coarse setting grinds the beans finer than what you will get from a coffee shop for a drip maker. This makes for a very cloudy cup of coffee. I have gotten a better grind using my old blade grinder.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - It's ok, a little messy but nothing seemd better
It works well, looks good, is not that big and does a credible job. Not too noisy. Cons are that dial is calibrated in seconds 20, 25 etc., so it is hard to remember and equate how much per cup. Seal between output hole and plastic cup is not that great, so there is always some grounds that spill out on the base of the unit and on the counter for each use. It also stupidly has a black cords though it is white. I guess I'd give it a 3 1/2 if I could.

No other brands that were reviewed seemed better at a moderate price.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Wouldn't buy it again
I've owned mine for about three years and am now looking for something less messy and less loud. It takes a good couple of minutes to grind enough for a single cup of coffee, and if you're trying to do this while someone is still asleep, household discord can arise. Because the canister for the grounds does not sit firmly onto the grinder, you have to stand around while its grinding to keep it from coming off. Perhaps because the burrs have become dull, for about a year now I have to regularly hit the top of the container to keep feeding the beans through the grinder as it operates; otherwise it gets stuck and no beans are ground. All of this fuss leads to a pretty messy counter. Braun definitely needs to improve on this design.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Excellent Grinder for the Money
The Grinder works well for a variety of grind settings, and while not exactly quiet isn't as loud as the grinder it replaced. I've yet to try the expresso setting.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Well designed solid grinder
This is so well designed that I can't find a better one at any price.
1. Few other grinders have a knob to set the time for grinding, and the few that do have a buttons or sliders - not nearly as accurate or easy!
2. It is white so you can see the coffee and where to clean.
3. You can access the orifice to scrape out the coffee - I haven't seen another that allows this. (you don't want yesterday's stale coffee sitting in there)
4. The removal and replacement of the bin is easier than any others.
5. For the price it is unbeatable.
Another reviewer complained about static - I would say that it is a problem on the very driest of winter days in Rochester, NY. I didn't downgrade my rating for this becuase I don't know if other brands are any better.
