![]() Rating: - Horrible grinder, terrible serviceMy third Capresso 557 has once again broken. I have not had one last more then 2-3 months. Capresso has been reasonable about replacing it, however, the last time I sent it in, they did tell me that they no longer make this non-conical burr grinder because of a design issue that makes it too easy to clog (the other reviews here confirm this issue). Unfortunately, they would not agree to send me a newer model without charging me $15 extra. First, they replaced my more expensive stainless version with a cheaper all plastic version, made me send it in twice while paying for the shipping the first time (now I'm going to have to send it in a third time), then have the gall to charge me extra (I know it's only $15 but it's the principle of it) to get a grinder that doesn't have the known clogging issue. I am doing a renovation and was deciding between a really expensive countertop Capresso Jura Z6 or a built in espresso machine. Given Capresso's terrible customer service, they've lost me as a future customer. I guess Miele will be the next espresso machine in my house. Rating: - Zero stars - do not buyI wanted to give this product zero stars, but that option was not available. I purchased the Capresso 557.01 in January 2008. Almost exactly 2 months later, it stopped working. The motor would run for a second or 2 (with no grinding) and then stop. Since it has a 1 year warranty, I contacted Capresso customer service, and they replaced the unit after I shipped it back to them. The replacement unit lasted almost exactly 3 months and then stopped working with exactly the same symptoms. I called Capresso customer service again, and to their credit, they agreed to refund my $50.00. Of course I have to return the unit to them, paying shipping costs for the second time. This is a pitiful product. Apparently, Capresso agrees because I was told that they are no longer manufacturing it. Good riddance. This experience makes me very reluctant to ever try another Capresso product again. Rating: - Big disappointmentThere is no warranty from the manufacturer and Amazon only guarantees it for 30 days. Mine lasted for only 45 days before malfunctioning. Motor runs great when empty, load 1 teaspoon of beans and the motor bogs down. Love using Amazon...too bad this was such a big disappointment. Rating: - Perfect look and performanceI bought this with a little aprehension because of the mixed reviews. I am so happy with the purchase. First of all it is nice and black and sleek design fits very nicely on the counter and takes up minimum space. Second it has a neat little storage area for the coffee beans, so now I place the beans in the storage area and I dont need the coffee beans sitting on the counter anymore so even more space is saved. Third I can choose the grind on the beans from 1 being very fine to 9 being very course grind. I like my beans not so course, so this is great option. Lastly you can choose how many cups you want ground up at once. So if you make 4 cups program it to 4 and perfect amount is ground up and you dont even have to hold the button down, just push it once and it will grind it up. Rating: - Decent Grinder For The PriceThis replaced a cheap Salton Brand burr grinder that we've used for years. I like the design and it's easy to use but it clogs up easily. The cleaning brush they give you is somewhat flimsy, and has a hard time loosening up the compacted grinds that clog up the discharge chute. I like how quickly it works, but I might look at another brand when this one wears out |
