Editorial Review:

Product Description:
Barista grade control for a variety of coffee grinds. The removable bean hopper holds 1/2 a pound of coffee beans. The motor drives the bottom burrs and the top plate is stationary. The distance you position them apart precisely determines grind size. The easy-to-read settings allow for grind choices from ultra-fine for Turkish coffee to large and coarse for percolators.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Good grind - dumb design
Makes a nice grind and yes, it is quiet.

Why is there a "main" on/off switch in addition to the timer switch?

I need to push the timer twice to get the amount of grounds into the hopper for my (12 cup) coffee maker. Unfortunately, that is also right on the cusp of how much the itsy-bitsy, teenie weenie, hopper holds.

Why is the container that you pour the beans into so large and the hopper so small? Are we supposed to store our coffee in the grinder? If so, is it airtight? Didn't think so.

This thing generates a huge amount of static electricity which basically means there is always a mess when you try to pour the grinds into your coffee maker.

Are all burr grinders like this? Why can't I measure how many beans I need, pour them in, and it grinds them all, then stops?

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Tremendous machine
$ for $ the best machine on the market. I have used many, the grind and consistency are impressive. Treat yourself and buy it.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Works great for ultra-fine grinding
I got this unit to grind chia seeds (the black ones which have hard shells) and it works wonderfully. Chia seeds are a little smaller than sesame seeds so many other grinders won't get a fine enough grind to grind chia seeds.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A terrific grinder!
I finally decided to replace my hateful older model Capresso grinder that I've had for about 10 years. What an improvement!
My Capresso blew coffee particles ALL OVER the counter. I hated to use it because it was so messy and it was very prone to clogging which was a nightmare to take care of.
This one's clean and quiet and no mention is made as to what to do if it clogs, so I'm guessing it won't.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Timer problems
I've had the unit about six months. It worked well at first and does a reasonably good job at grinding coffee, but as others have experienced, the timer has stopped working correctly. It's entirely random - 1 second, 5 seconds, 20 seconds, regardless of what it's set to. So I end up standing there having to push the button 5 or 6 times to grind enough coffee for a cup of espresso.

Breville seems to have serious quality control issues. The pump on my Breville ESP8XL espresso machine, which I've also had about six months, just failed. I will not buy another Breville product.
